Computer Information Technology (CIT) enables students to learn up-to-date computer software, such as Microsoft Office. CIT also emphasizes the use of computer systems, such as Windows, and covers computer concepts. Internet exploration and web page creation are additional focuses in CIT. Students leave CIT with skills in word processing, database, spreadsheet, desktop publishing, presentation, web page design, Internet knowledge, and more. Students will be exploring administrative procedures for medical assisting. This field of medical technologies is a fast growing profession in our tri-state area as well as throughout our country.

Students also participate in an internship with a local business during the second semester of their senior year. In addition, CIT senior students may qualify for a Certificate of Merit credit.

In CIT, students may be selected to receive the Outstanding CIT Student Award and the Outstanding CIT Intern Award from the Maryland State Highway Department at the CCTE certification ceremony. Students who are eligible may compete for the Outstanding Business Student Award given by the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce. Many other activities are offered to enhance the student's career portfolio, which is also developed in CIT along with other professional development tools.

CIT students also participate in an organization called Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). In FBLA, students learn leadership skills, communication skills, problem solving skills, and self-improvement skills. They also contribute to several charity and service events and enter competitions. Students may also be eligible for college credits in introductory courses in the Computer Science Technology program at Allegany College of Maryland.
