Highly skilled electricians are never without a job. Since Edison invented the light bulb in 1879, electrical technology has increased the demand for electricians. Working conditions have improved and salaries have increased.
Weather you are inclined towards residential, commercial or industrial work, there are jobs in new construction, repair, and maintenance available for you. Electrical students learn methods of wiring, how to read diagrams, schematics, blueprints, electrical safety, Ohms law, electric motor control wiring, and residential wiring. The electrical students rough wire and install all electrical fixtures in the house that CCTE builds during the school year.
Numerous jobs opportunities are available in the electrical field. Successful students may find employment in appliance repair, motor repair, trouble shooting, residential wiring, and commercial and industrial maintenance. You may work as an electrical supply counter person, instrument person telephone installer, safety inspector, business machine repair technician, telephone, electric or cable lineman, electrical control technician, electrical estimator or security system technician. Electrical Construction students have the opportunity to take the Electrical Union’s aptitude test during their junior year, As a result students who qualify will have the opportunity to participate in the apprenticeship curriculum during their senior year at CCTE.
