Educators from Across State to Attend to Refine Skills as Instructional Leaders
The Allegany County Public School System will host the 2012 Environmental Literacy Summit at Rocky Gap August 5-9, 2012. The summit is an opportunity for educators from across the state to gather to refine their skills as instructional leaders charged with the development, revision and implementation of pre-k through grade twelve environmental literacy programs. The summit is funded through a math-science partnership grant from the Maryland State Department of Education.
The goal of this year’s summit is to “establish regional environmental literacy liaisons to facilitate continued communication and collaboration among local education agencies (LEAs) and between providers and these LEAs as well as supply support as needed to help ensure effective implementation of school system Environmental Literacy plans.”
The summit will feature conference-style sessions facilitated by invited presenters from pre-k through grade twenty educational, state and federal agencies and other environmental organizations. The opening evening’s keynote speaker will be Congressman Sarbanes. Regional meetings across the state held in the fall of 2012 and the spring of 2013 will follow this year’s summit.
