Academic Endowment Funds

Washington Middle School

In 2005, Mr. Harry Smith, principal of               Washington Middle School, organized what is known today as the Friends of Washington Middle School Foundation, Inc. The Foundation consists of parents, teachers, and community business partners working together for the betterment of Washington Middle School, and it's mission is to recognize each student as a community member, and, as a consequence, to assist each student in promoting his/her mental, physical, social, and emotional well-being.

The administration of WMS feel that students at this influential age need programs like this more than ever, and the Foundation's committee members feel that it is their responsibility to give back to the community by helping to shape the future of students and promote economic growth in Allegany County.

The Foundation's Board of Directors includes:  Stephen Kobert, president; Frank Palumbo, treasurer; Julie Kostovick, secretary; Greg Hare, past president; Harry Smith, principal; George Brown, William DuVall, Jennifer Hare, Shawnee McElfish, Joni Reed, Snake Robertson, Peggy Ruppenkamp, Janis Tichnell, Jack Wilson, Jamie Woodring.

Mountain Ridge High School

Parents, teachers, and school administrators from the Mountain Ridge High School community formed an endowment fund that will provide financial assistance for academic programs at the new school.

The main purpose of the academic endowment fund is to supplement existing academic programs in areas where there is a need. The fund will be strictly limited to academics and can help provide additional technology resources, specialty supplies, field trips and academic requests made by teachers and school administrators.

The endowment fund is classified as a 501-3C charitable organization and all donations are tax deductible. For more information about Mountain Ridge High School's Academic Endowment Fund, click the link to the right.
